The Fayette County Courthouse built in 1825, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The oldest surviving courthouse in the state of Georgia; it is a prime example of the Second Empire style of architecture. With an imposing presence it dominates the downtown area of the the small town of Fayetteville, Georgia. This photograph of the clock tower was taken in evening light.
