Description
The salt marshes of the Georgia coastline provide an ever changing view for the artist. They captivate me with the play of colors that range from the vivid green and golds of the cordgrass to the deep brown of the mud flats. This scene is in the area of southern coastal Georgia near the area where the Cumbland River empties into the Cumbland Sound.

A salt marsh can be know by many names, saltmarsh, tidal marsh, tidal basin, but whatever you choose to call them they provide some of them most beautiful scenery along the Atlantic coast of the United States. Filled with either salt or brackish water they are populated by sturdy salt-tolerant vegetation. The most common plant in the marsh is the common cordgrass. Along with glasswort, cordgrass literally builds the marsh by trapping sediment.

Coastal Georgia is full of scenes just like this one.

Very nice Sally! It reminds me of a marsh I used to visit a lot back home in Ohio. Of course it was a fresh water marsh but had a similar look.
